South African National Council for the Blind

Zulu Missions - helping the poor in rural areas.

Under the leadership of Cardinal Wilfrid Napier, the Catholic Archdiocese of Durban, KwaZulu Natal, serves a quarter of a million Catholics, many of whom are rural Zulu people living on remote mission stations. Apart from bringing spiritual guidance, Catholic priests and sisters of the Archdiocese run children’s homes, schools, homes for the chronically sick and disabled, hospice care, health, feeding and welfare projects aimed at upliftment and the eradication of poverty.
